British GQ Matthew Manning Interview

Matthew Manning is a facilitator of spiritual healing.

This is the pathetic introduction of the May 8, 2014 British GQ article about Matthew Manning:

For 50 years, Matthew Manning has been Britain's most haunted.  Harassed by spirits since the age of eleven and apparently gifted with the power to heal cancer the 'Poltergeist Boy' is not your common-or-garden kook.  Having withstood the scrutiny of doctors, academics and every rigour of the scientific method, Manning claims his abilities are from beyond — and beyond dispute.  Believe him or not, he claims he's the real deal.  And what's more . . .  He can prove it

Sadly, this paragraph may reflect the mentality of many of the magazine's readers regarding 'unexplained phenomena.'  The article begins with an offering of a coterie of celebrity names "of some of those who have consulted him."  The events of strange phenomena in Matthew Manning's early life are described in The Link (1974).  In 1999 another autobiography chronicled how Manning became a healer: One Foot in the Stars written with Tessa Rose.  Manning also is the author of The Healing Journey (2001) and Your Mind Can Heal Your Body (2007).

The title of the article by Robert Chalmers is "An Interview with Matthew Manning: Poltergeist Boy" with Chalmers referring to himself as being among those "who approach apparently supernatural phenomena with scepticism."  In this case, the reference to the British equivalent of the word 'skeptic' seems adequate as Chalmers expresses himself as willing to contemplate what may be perceived as 'unexplained phenomena' and mentions the many witnesses; otherwise, a perhaps more appropriate word to describe a skeptic unwilling to consider the evidence is 'denialist.'

Manning's uncanny experiences as a teenager include witnessing objects moved by an unseen force, automatic writing and automatic artistic renderings.  Chalmers described one memorable incident:

The signatures of dead people — several hundred of them, all in different hands — began to appear, roughly scrawled, on Manning's bedroom wall.  The first was signed by one Robert Webbe, a 17th-century figure who left a message that indicated, as Manning puts it, that he "seemed to have no idea that he was dead."  On one occasion, witnessed by Dr. Owen and others, Derek Manning ushered the whole family into the garden, with his son's bedroom roped off, leaving a pencil on the bed.  When they returned after ten minutes, another inscription had been added.  Some of the names, which were systematically photographed, appear in historic parish registers; others were of unknown provenance.

From One Foot in the Stars: "The 'spirit graffiti' of Queen's House: 503 signatures, with dates, appeared on the walls in my bedroom between 31 July and 6 August 1971.  Many of the names were those of local families and in some cases the accompanying dates were those on which the named persons died."  (Vernon Harrison photographs)

The conception of 'dead people' may convey to some people an idea of unconsciousness upon a human being's physical demise at the end of an Earth life; however, a spiritually aware person understands that consciousness continues in another realm of existence.

Matthew recalled that one night at the age of 15 "my bed started to vibrate and the feet rose into the air.  Then the head end rose and I was suspended six inches off the ground."  The 'poltergeist'-type phenomena occurred in two family residences and in the dormitory of Matthew's boarding school, Oakham in Rutland.  He commented about the commencement of interims of automatic writing:

"I had always imagined that the automatic writing, whatever it was, was probably flotsam that was coming out of my unconscious.  I didn't care, though, because it seemed to stop the poltergeists.  But when I began writing in Chinese and Arabic, as I did, well that did freak me out a bit.  Because those languages were not, so far as I was aware, present in my subconscious."

When one considers the variety of extensively documented cases of transcendental communication among other cases of psychic phenomena and 'remote viewing,' the perception of a shared Superconsciousness and subconscious mind among humanity becomes apparent.  Words expressing this Force include 'Christ Consciousness' and 'Oneness.'

Chalmers recounted some of the memorable events from the youth of Matthew Manning.

Schoolmate Jon Wills observed Manning produce a number of pictures, including a drawing in the unmistakable style of Albrecht Dürer.  "I can think of no conceivable explanation for that in terms of orthodox physics," Wills told me.  "Matthew did not have the artistic ability to produce anything of that kind.  And he never knew who was doing the drawing until the end, when it was signed."

Manning was approached by the publisher Colin Smythe, who is now agent to Sir Terry Pratchett.  After leaving school he started work on a book about his experiences called The Link.

"This was around the time 'The Exorcist' was released," Manning says, "and Uri Geller was becoming very famous.  A friend of my publisher knew David Frost, and I was taken to tea with him at Claridge's in 1974.  I was just 19.  We didn't have a television at home.  I didn't know who David Frost was, but he decided that afternoon to give an entire show over to me."

In the course of the half-hour broadcast, Manning appeared to channel diagnoses from a dead physician called Dr. Penn who, working from the birth date of a member of the audience, accurately identified a young woman in the audience as suffering from kidney problems and heart disease.  He had brought professional-looking drawings that he said he'd psychically received from artists including Picasso and Aubrey Beardsley, even though all friends and family confirm Jon Wills' assertion that Manning is no artist.

Manning was sent out on tour, and proved to be something of a psychic all-rounder.  He appeared to be able to project and receive numbers telepathically.  He could bend spoons like Uri Geller.

"The whole thing became a ludicrous circus that centred around Geller and myself," Manning says.  "The two of us were constantly being compared.  But Uri Geller is streetwise in a way that I have never been.  You have no idea how it feels  to be 19 in the middle of a room full of cameras and aggressively skeptical journalists, who sit you down and ask you to make something inexplicable happen on demand."

I have a tabloid clipping from this period which describes a laboratory experiment in which Manning was presented with a row of light bulbs wired in series, and asked to switch them on using only mental energy.  The headline reads: "Psychic Can Only Light Two Lamps."

"That's right," says Manning (who, on one occasion, was reported to have blown every fuse in a Madrid department store).  "The amazing thing about that experiment, to them, was that out of nine light bulbs I failed to light seven."

By 1976, he says, "I began to ask myself whether I really wanted to spend the rest of my life on that circuit.  I was sick of the whole thing.  I decided to quit.  I went out to India at the beginning of 1997.  I hired a taxi driver to take me to the Himalayas, through Simla, and ended up in the small mountain village of Narkanda, where I stayed the night.  I set my camera up to photograph the sunrise and . . .  I know this will sound mad to you, but I had this sudden, extraordinary sense of being at one with everything that was around me: the rocks, the mountains, the trees and the sky.  I got this overwhelming sense of something that I can only describe as God.  I didn't even take a picture."

In the article, no awareness is indicated that incidents such as 'poltergeist phenomena' may occur in proximity to specific individuals with the purpose of presenting a pattern or microcosm that can expand people's spiritual awareness about life if they are able to develop an understanding of the context of the events.  Considering the events chronicled in Matthew's life, similar patterns may be observed manifesting in relation to other contemporary experiencers or 'channels' of occurrences sometimes referred to categorically as 'paranormal' or 'psychic phenomena.'  Last week's blog article identified news articles about others who have recently been the subject of mainstream media reporters, including trance channel healer Ray Brown and clairvoyant/clairaudient mediums Sally Morgan, Tony Stockwell, June Field, and John Edward, among others.

Readers of this blog are knowledgeable about documented cases of so-called 'poltergeist phenomena,' 'channeling' and spiritual healing that are the topics of such articles as "The Poltergeist In Retrospect (with audio and video clip links)", "Some Recordings of Channeling" and "Spiritual Healing".  My selection of subjects has focused on detailed firsthand accounts, such as Matthew Manning's.  What all the 'poltergeist' cases have in common is that the manifestations were impressive enough that the witnesses were compelled to chronicle their experiences.  It is through the analysis of this vast web of intriguing phenomena that people can comprehend the Mind and nature of the all-knowing transcendental source Consciousness for life throughout the cosmos.

The British GQ article presents Matthew's commentary about the sensation of heat sometimes noticed during healing sessions: "The only way I can describe the feeling is that I am channeling some kind of conditional love."  He explained: "Whether you call it God, cosmic consciousness, universal love . . . I think we're all talking about the same thing."

When treating cancer sufferers, as he often does, says Manning, "I always tell people: I am not a miracle worker.  Let me work with you two or three times.  If there's no improvement I am not going to carry on endlessly.  We have five possibilities.  One: I can't do anything and I cannot say, even after 35 years, why what I'm doing hits the bull's eye with one person and fails to hit the board with someone else.  Two: whatever I do may slow the progression of a disease; remember, people often come to me when all other possibilities have been exhausted.  Three: you might find that healing stablises the condition for a year, or five, or longer.  Four: you might find the problem remains but is greatly improved.  And the fifth: I always aim to knock the disease right out."

When he began working as a healer Manning says, "I was a complete atheist.  It's the experiences I have had that have persuaded me there is something out there."

"I have this idea," he says, "that there is no such thing as time; that time is a man-made concept.  If all time was simultaneous, as I believe it to be, it would mean that there is no such thing as past, present or future.  I think that would explain certain phenomena.  I think scientists may one day come up with an explanation that has little to do with spirituality and everything to do with quantum physics."

Robert Chalmers reported: "Prominent surgeons and consultants send patients to Manning and vice versa."

Some Recent News Articles about Psychic Phenomena

STV Dundee photo

Last year on June 20, UK media reported that representatives of The Daily Mail newspaper agreed to pay psychic Sally Morgan £125,000 in damages and legal costs in relation to a 2011 news article that accused her of cheating by using an earpiece.  A Daily Mail article regarding the agreement included the statement "Associated Newspapers accepted the allegation was untrue and apologised unreservedly."

The Press Gazette headline was "Daily Mail pays £125k damages plus costs to TV psychic Sally Morgan over 'charlatan' report" while a BBC News report on the payout quoted from Sally Morgan's statement at her website:

"There will always be sceptics who attack my work and I understand and accept that. However, to libel me and falsely accuse me of a con trick does not constitute rational commentary or debate.  I hope now this settlement and apology will repair the damage that has been done."

The Guardian article on the libel damages explained:

The article, by the magician Paul Zenon, claimed that Morgan had used a hidden earpiece during her performance in order to receive instructions and relay them on stage as if they were messages from the spiritual world.

Magicians and illusionists expressing antipathy concerning 'paranormal phenomena' is a trend that may have originated with Harry Houdini, who waged a publicity-garnering campaign against mediums during the final years of his life.  Arthur Conan Doyle wrote in The Edge of the Unknown (1930) about Houdini: "His anti-Spiritualist agitation became more and more unreasoning until it bordered upon a mania . . . he proclaimed that he wished only to attack dishonest mediums, but as in the same breath he would assert that there were no honest ones . . . ."

In 2014 it remains usual to find mainstream news reports expressing and/or influenced by a social consciousness of skepticism in relation to 'paranormal' or metaphysical topics.  One example of this is an odd January 15, 2014 article in the Belfast Telegraph centering on trivial circumstances in relation to blind psychic Sharon Neill's participation in a 'paranormal challenge programme' in Russia: "Psychic fails to predict passport hiccup ahead of Russian TV trip".  Sharon Neill is the subject of a 2009 blog post.

What follows is a selection of quotations from some 2014 and 2013 news articles about psychics and mediums (with links).  Among these, the reader will notice that a recent article in The Daily Mail also exhibits statements expressing a skeptical social consciousness.  Last year, a Daily Mail article asked "Are we all PSYCHIC?" and presented scientific evidence of a 'Collective Consciousness'; however, the article concluded with a portion expressing alternate opinions.  In contrast, there was no skepticism expressed in the 2013 Daily Mail article "Teenager charged with murder of his autistic half-brother as police reveal that PSYCHIC led them to the 11-year-old body in a shallow grave dug in the family's yard".  The variation in reporters' sensibilities concerning psychic phenomena shows that individual discrimination is consequential to the presentation of news encompassing metaphysical subjects.

Cynthia went to see Ray, one of Britain’s most popular psychic surgeons, on the recommendation of a friend.  "I'd never been interested in anything New Age previously — I'm a born sceptic," she says.  "But, by that stage, I was willing to try anything.  I'd had years of anti-rheumatic drugs on the NHS with no success.

"The pain in my neck and back was excruciating.  I had nothing to lose."

Ray holds regular clinics around the country — including at a Leicestershire caravan park, a village hall in Surrey and a community centre in Suffolk — so Cynthia travelled to see him in a Brighton block of flats for her first £33 session.

He was already 'channelling' Paul when she arrived . . .

Cynthia is in no doubt that when Ray ‘channels’ St Paul, he becomes an entirely different person.  "Ray has a gravelly voice, whereas Paul is more refined," she says.  "Their expressions and mannerisms are different, too.

"After the first session, I felt sore for a couple of days, but then the pain in my neck and back disappeared.  It was absolutely wonderful.  Now, I go every month for a top-up session to keep me mobile and energetic."

Once a week for three hours, over the space of 12 weeks, June appeared on Ukrainian TV show "International Battle Of The Psychics" and it was here that she inadvertently aided the local police in an ongoing murder investigation.

"During one of the tasks we were asked to hold onto a necklace that belonged to a dead girl and her father was sitting opposite me," explains June.

"All we were told was that she was dead. I held onto the necklace and described the murder scene I saw. The police asked to see me afterwards because I described it so well but hadn’t been there."

"I described her murderer and said he had a tattoo on his shoulder, a scar on his hand, that he drove a yellow car and smelt of oil."

"This all aired as one of the shows and I was back home for about nine months before the news that he’d murdered again came out.  He was caught and it was discovered that he did in fact have a shoulder tattoo, a scar on his finger and that he drove a yellow taxi too — so he even smelled like oil."

(Note: An earlier Daily Mail article about June Field from February 2013 is an exercise in overt sarcasm.)
Sally went on to predict that the couple's baby will be born on the 9th day of the month and will be a little girl.

After saying that he simply wanted to be normal, he recalls allegedly losing his abilities; these "highly-evolved beings" took him at his word and revoked it, Edward claims.  He asked for it back and it was returned and the psychic said he never complained again about his abilities, noting that the lesson taught him that you really don’t know what you have until it’s gone.

Certainly, this may seem odd to some, but for Edward, interacting with these beings is apparently a daily reality.

A Dental Remedy Channeled through Edgar Cayce

This year when I experienced dental discomfort, my dentist explained that this was due to increased gum sensitivity — something that I didn't realize could become a concern.  The suggested treatment was flossing after every meal.  This didn't seem to help so I decided to see if Edgar Cayce had been asked to provide a treatment for this problem during one of his hypnotic trances.  A simple Internet search for the words "Edgar Cayce gum sensitivity" brought a link to a product inspired by information found in Cayce's channeled readings transcripts.

I purchased a four-ounce bottle of "Heritage Store IPSAB Herbal Gum Treatment" for $10.42 with an additional shipping and handling cost of $3.59 for a total cost of $14.01.  The main ingredients are distilled water and Zanthoxylum clava-herculis L. (Prickly Ash) bark.

Upon receiving the ointment, I applied the ointment by fingertip to the sensitive gum areas before going to bed and the following morning noticed a reduction in the discomfort.  I had not expected there would be results so soon.

At first I wasn't sure how often to use it.  After not using the Ipsab ointment on the third day, I noticed increased sensitivity when water contacted the areas of discomfort so I began using Ipsab every day.  A week later, I was noticing minimal discomfort.

Two weeks later, the sensitivity was no longer noticeable.  I also noticed that the ointment was a natural freshener.  I've been continuing to occasionally use Ipsab as a wash for the gums.

This week I decided to see what else I could learn about the Ipsab ointment.

A search for Ipsab among the texts on my Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) CD containing 14,306 transcripts of Edgar Cayce's channeled readings resulted with a listing of 194 texts and 491 documents (including text indexes, backgrounds and reports).  I also found an article entitled "Ipsab — An Herbal Remedy for Gum Problems" in the November 1972 edition of The A.R.E. Journal.

This is how the remedy was mentioned in the transcript for channeled reading 1800-1 of January 29, 1925.

1. EC: Now, we have those conditions as regarding the proposition of exploiting properties as would be given as a specific for physical conditions that are detrimental to the health of the human family.  These specifics given through the psychic forces, as manifested in the body Edgar Cayce, the proposition of exploiting same considered by Morton Blumenthal and David Blumenthal, these conditions we find:

2. Were these handled in the proper channels, there is the good to be obtained for the human family, and the expending of monies, expending of self, expending of all endeavors to be of assistance to others, when there is not excess of any nature, when there is only the good being attempted to be given, the returns in the monetary way are only the just desserts to such explorations.

3. As to how these properties are to be made, namely, that under consideration: Well that these be manufactured under the supervision of someone directly interested in the manifestations of such phenomena.

4. As to how this pyorrhea, or Gum-ese, would be prepared: [It was later [from 1925 on] referred to as Ipsab*.]

5. To six ounces toothache bark, or Prickly Ash Bark, add 16 ounces rain, or snow, water.

* [10/17/72 GD's note: An article on Ipsab appearing in 11/72 issue of The A.R.E. Journal by Tom Johnson and Carol A. Baraff states "It is not known where the name originated." This reminds me to make this notation: The name was suggested by Gertrude Cayce, combining the first letters of the main ingredients: iodine, prickly ash bark [or peppermint], salt. Soon the readings started using the name.]

6. Reduce by simmering (not boiling too severely) to one-half the quantity. Then add iodized, or salt treated with iodine, to the amount of 8 ounces; this stirred well in while the solution is very warm, adding at the same time to these properties 2 minims of Oil of Peppermint.

7. Use or place in container wherein the solution may be used by rubbing on gum with the finger, and the mouth rinsed with plain water after rubbing for two to three minutes. This solution should be used where pyorrhea has begun at least twice each week, until the gums and soreness is relieved.  Then once each month.  Should solution become hard from exposure, and from evaporation, add small quantity of water and the solution will be ready for use.  Best that these properties, then, be put in small containers.

8. We are through.

In the 1972 The A.R.E. Journal article, Tom Johnson and Carol A. Baraff wrote about Ipsab:

In a few instances it is stated that the finished product should be a paste, but the majority of cases suggest a liquid.  If desired, a paste may be easily made by adding salt in sufficient amounts to the liquid.

Johnson and Baraff reported that prickly ash bark was known to the American Indians as 'toothache bark' and Cayce referred to it by the same terms.  Reading passages were cited to show that Ipsab had been suggested for general upkeep of the teeth and gums.

[From text of channeled reading 257-11 given on January 11, 1926]

Using, then for the teeth and gums, to strengthen same, those properties as found in that combination [Ipsab] as has been given for such conditions through these forces.

[From text of channeled reading 987-1 given on August 7, 1935]

Some local attention [to the teeth] is needed.  The natural tendency of a disturbance in the circulatory forces to the sensory organs, as indicated, is to make for a lack of the proper circulation through the gums and to the portions of the teeth themselves.

If the solution known as Ipsab is used to massage the gums occasionally, it will make for a strengthening of the areas and a preserving of their usefulness.  Once or twice a week this would be thoroughly massaged into the gums, and will make a great deal of change in the gums and the teeth.

Do that.

[From text of channeled reading 3598-1 given on January 21, 1944]

Do use Ipsab as a message for the gums and it will make a great deal of difference with the teeth, the breath and the general activity.

[From text of channeled reading 569-23 given on November 13, 1935]

We would use same [Ipsab] not upon cotton, for this body, but upon the finger use it and massage; not only the gums where the teeth are but where they are not!  And we will find that the stimulation in the activities of the throat itself, to the salivary glands, to even the tonsil area, will be materially aided by the activity of the combination of the calcium with the iodine in same, as well as the antiseptics that arise from the vegetable forces in same as combined with sodium chloride.

Johnson and Baraff also presented excerpts from readings that indicated "Ipsab, in diluted form, was recommended for the developing teeth of babies."  The following readings were given for a one-year-old and a nine-year-old child, respectively.

[From text of channeled reading 314-2 given on April 14, 1934]

Also, during this period of the formation of the teeth, keep sufficient quantities of iodine in the food values for the body, as well as calcium, and so forth. It will be found that a massage of the gums occasionally with those properties known as Ipsab will be helpful in making for a healthy condition as these processes are carried on through the activity of the thyroid operations in the body. Keep the body well balanced with the diets that make sufficient amounts of silicon, calcium, iron, and the like, in the VEGETABLE forces; for these should not be given as separate forces for this body in the present, as we find.

[From text of channeled reading 299-2 given on June 13, 1932]

6.  (Q) Are teeth forming normally?
(A)  These are very good.  We would find that a weakened solution of Ipsab for the gums would tend to relieve the pressure and make for normalcy in the salivary glands, as well as strengthening the tissue in mouth.  This should be reduced at least half, and the gums massaged with a tuft of cotton with same.  This also adds to the amount of saline, calcium and iodine, for the activity of the glands in mouth and throat.

The article by Johnson and Baraff concluded with the following commentary and excerpts.

Ipsab seems to be especially effective in treatment of bleeding or receding gums and for treatment and prevention of pyorrhea.  In one reading Cayce stated that some element in the prickly ash bark destroyed the germs that cause pyorrhea.  Ipsab was also prescribed for trench mouth and other types of gum problems.

[From text of channeled reading 5121-1 May 17, 1944]

7.  (Q) What can I do about pyorrhea condition in my teeth?
(A) Use Ipsab regularly each day and rinse mouth out when it is finished with Glyco-Thymoline.

[From text of channeled reading 3696-1 given on March 16, 1944]

The receding gums and those tendencies towards pyorrhea would be allayed by the consistent use of Ipsab as a massage for the teeth and gums.  Also these should be treated, some locally, with the dentist's paraphernalia [and also] - the small wads of cotton saturated with the Ipsab and applied in the areas where the conditions are indicated at the base or edge of the gums.

[From text of channeled reading 1026-1 given on October 21, 1935]

This will purify and make for such a condition as to assist in correcting the trouble where there has been the softening of the teeth themselves - or the enamel on same.

The website of the Association for Research and Enlightenment offers an Edgar Cayce Health Database that includes descriptions of the numerous therapeutic modalities presented in the Edgar Cayce channeled readings transcripts.

On My Workdesk Wednesday #4

This is WOYWW #275 (and the fourth time I've participated) and if you want to see the workdesks of other artists and crafters, check out the linky here!

For the past couple of weeks, my college dorm desk has been my workdesk-- and boy does it have a lot going on today. Yes, this is the normal state of my desk. God bless my roommate for being so fantastic.

Since I am up to my ears in projects at the moment, I'll hold off on blogging about college. Suffice it to say that I am blessed to have fantastic friends, that I have some surprisingly good classes, and that I am involved in perhaps one too many activities.

I am going to take a page out of some of the other WOYWW bloggers' books and do a quick rundown of all the clutter on my desk. But first, an interruption by the most appropriate quote I can think of at the moment...

A clean desk is the sign of an empty mind.
(I've heard this quote assigned to Albert Einstein, but apparently no one knows who really came up with it.)

  • 5 subject notebook, opened to my Literature course Hero and Quest. I am delaying on an essay in that class by writing this blog post instead. As we all know, writing blog posts about the contents of one's desk is a higher form of literature than writing a concise paper on the difference between knowledge and wisdom as presented in Diotima.
  • Math. I'm taking Baby Calculus this semester (Big Kid Calc is the killer 5 credit hour class) and I also have homework due in that class.
  • Tristan and Isuelt and the corner of The Forest People. More class readings.
  • My sketchbook which holds sketches for Color Theory and two design courses. I've been spending a lot of time in Adobe Creative Suite lately.
  • A paint palette, which is drying so that I can clean it and use it tomorrow.
  • Half-braided copper wire for a bridal circlet I am working on.
  • Pliers and chainmaille supplies for some consignment work I am doing.
  • The mouse for my laptop. I forgot to bring my mouse to my internship today, and I also forgot to bring my Wacom tablet. It's hard to do design work with a trackpad! But everyone was pleased with the work I did, so I've still got a bit of a high from that.
  • Last night's tea.
  • A birthday card.
  • Pictures of my lovely family.
  • Packing tape which never made it back out into my box of mailing supplies. This weekend I mailed out SEVEN orders, and two of them were international sales!
  • A to-do list on a post it note.

Some more sneak peeks into the art and jewelry work I've been up to:

From my Instagram-- a very early morning (before the cafeteria opened!) eating breakfast and doing design work before heading to a very early morning class.

Another Instagram shot-- this was taken at approximately one in the morning. Color theory homework. I promise that I actually do sleep sometimes. :)
More from Instagram-- a custom etched necklace that went out in the mail not too long ago.

These are a few more of the jewelry pieces I made recently-- all custom work. :) Yes I am just digging through my camera card to find some pictures to share! Most of the pictures I've taken recently have been of friends and events here on campus!

These are handstamped metal quote pieces that later had leather and silk ribbons threaded through to make bracelets.

And for good measure, here's a shot of my Color Theory sketchbook. I am really enjoying this class despite it being one of the most difficult art classes I've ever taken! There is so much analytic thought that can go into art-- even more than I ever imagined!

That's all for today, folks. I look forward to taking a peek at other artists' workdesks throughout this week!

Ramtha In Perspective

In a 2014 radio interview, Ramtha commented about his philosophy: "There is an exquisite art of delivery . . . I have been most artful in my delivery."  Ramtha's complex lectures have been the topic of previous articles in this series focusing upon the extensively documented case of JZ Knight, channeler of Ramtha.

In "Ramtha's Autobiography" from A Beginner's Guide to Creating Reality (Third Edition 2004), a passage reminds readers about the esoteric aspects of the ascended masters' instruction.

I am an enigma, even this embodiment, but I exist, and my wonderment is felt by all who come into my audience.  Yet who is to say I am real, for what know they of reality, entity, on this plane?  Contemplating you beyond the body into the unseen, is an adventure.  That is where you will find yourself, not in the eyes of anyone else but in your own understanding.

Ramtha has talked about antiquated religious dogma, motivating listeners and readers to reflect about their own perspectives and beliefs.  Ramtha's philosophizing at times encompasses our human fears as well as reminding us about hopes and possibilities for the future.  Ramtha was quoted in Voyage to the New World (1985):

I will manifest all your fears, all of your unworthiness, all of your lackings, all of your insecurities about you in this your year to come—everything.  Now, my master, you will think it's funny when we have gotten through all of them for then you will have seen how unmeaningful they have been in your life.  We shall do it straightaway.

Ramtha's description of his Earth life as a conqueror and psychotic battlefield killer who became a contemplative cripple makes him a reformist figure in relation to expectations of what an 'ascended master' or 'avatar' should or would be like; however, this predicament reminds us of the tragic misfortunes of Earth life and that the Christed ones of the past have often been glorified and their life stories handed down by historians eager to exalt their subject with ethnocentric satisfaction.

As a guest on "The Merv Griffin Show" in 1985, Ramtha was asked about what is his most important message and responded:

"That which is termed as it were indeed God, which hath been misunderstood, which have been taught to live outside of your being, is within your being and that that which is called Christ is within your being.  And that which is called life is the grand experience, that it is where the kingdom of heaven is located, entity.  When know you that that which is termed you are God, that that which emanates within you is divine, you will find joy."

Ramtha went on to say: "To that which is termed a new consciousness — it is coming forward" and commented on 'The Second Coming' in a similar manner to what is recorded in the Edgar Cayce channeled reading transcripts.

Ramtha: To that which is called the coming of Christ, that will come before the end of this your time flow, your next decade and it is —

Merv: The second coming of Christ?

Ramtha: But know you what that is?  What think you it is?

Merv: The coming of Christ?

Ramtha: Indeed.

Merv: Coming of Christ is the — the Son of God will come once again as He did the first time.

Ramtha: But know you who the son of God is?

Merv: Do I know who He is?

Ramtha: Indeed.

Merv: You mean He has another image other than what we know?

Ramtha: The Coming of Christ is the awakening of that principle of that divinity in all people.  Tis not one Entity but the whole of the world, master, comes into their Christness, into that understanding.  That is what is meant by the prophecy.

A noticeable instance of unattributed speech (or Electronic Voice Phenomena) is heard on the video recording at 6:37 when Merv asked: "Are we in danger on this planet — ("OF") any major catastrophe?"  Ramtha also mentioned, "Once Superconsciousness has been acclaimed here, it shan't end with 2,000 years because that which is called your scientists will have conquered time and space."

While reading the 2001 edition of Ramtha, The White Book (1999) I noticed that some of the statements about God contrasted with my own experiences in life.  This might be due to Ramtha's use of 'verbiage contradictions' as the book is a compendium of portions of lecture transcripts dating from 1979 to 1985.  In A Beginner's Guide to Creating Reality, Ramtha discussed "verbiage contradiction" as there can be different 'levels of understanding' in relation to articulating something.  For example: when the statement is presented in The White Book "In the cosmic makeup of all that is, there is no such thing as evil," Ramtha's other statements explain that what is meant is that a human being cannot be innately or intrinsically evil.

Some of the statements made by the outrageous Ramtha are travesties in relation to common spiritual orientations.  At times he seems to be expressing a philosophy derived from his contemplation of his grim Earth life with new experiences gained while sojourning here for intervals in the body of his channel JZ Knight.  Ramtha commented about differences in perspective: ". . . each has formulated his opinion based on his unique experiences and the understanding or misunderstanding that he has gained in his soul, not only from this life but from all lives lived before this one."

Ascension therefore is no indication of perfect and complete knowledge and undoubtedly Ramtha is evolving himself.  All bona fide cases involving 'unexplained phenomena' offer metaphysical insights as experiencers are compelled to expand the consciousness of others and, as Ramtha has expressed many times, "make known the unknown."  An open-minded and analytical person will eternally be learning about what Ramtha refers to as "your beloved Father [that] exists in all forms of its manifestation: from light all the way to the density of matter." (The White Book)

As I mentioned in a previous article, when I attended a lecture by Ramtha in 2006, he said:

"There's nothing I ever said was the truth.  It only becomes the truth when we initiate you into what I said, into what you said.  And that the experience of that philosophy manifested in your life — that you experience in your importance, then it is a truth.  So the great work is taking this knowledge into a practicality of life because life is a gift and learning to live it at higher tempos of frequency, higher visions and concepts of thought, and to manifest it in the world to the startling reality of the unawakened around you who begin to wake up."

As one understands there is salvation in identifying oneself with all people and not with paperwork principalities of corporations, nations and programmed social consciousness, one begins the transition to a new age and a new consciousness.  Individual morality is dependent upon one's ability to reflect about and rationalize the purposes of life.  Ramtha is quoted in Parallel Lifetimes: Fluctuations in the Quantum Field (revised edition 2007 Fireside Series Vol. 3, No. 3) —

What is a graviton, Newton's gravity?  A graviton is a multiplane particle because the nature of a graviton is an energy that has been collapsed from the intent and the alalogical experience of the God who gave it life.  That intent in the mind of God is reflected in a particle that is wild and difficult to ascertain with any other particles.  They are called gravitons, and they are dimensionalized and energized so that what is apparent in the quantum field is that the graviton can exist in all of these fields and at the exact nature in consciousness of seven planes.  In other words, a graviton is the glue that keeps the intent of God and God's life in it together.

If we are talking about parallel states, parallel lifetimes, we would be talking about parallel experience possibilities.  We have learned that a constant quantum field state is a state and it does not present the past, present, or the future as anything but what the state is, so there is no time.

The nature of a parallel or shadow state of the quantum field would be that by altering or changing any of the landscape of this present state, according to its quantum arrangement, we have changed or repositioned the arrangement of experiential particles.  If we alter anything in this state, we have created a parallel state.

Cases of transcendental communication may be understood by theoretical physicists as confirming some of the things noticed in the laboratory such as the observer effect in quantum mechanics.  Yet a world with greater justice and harmony is only possible to the extent that each person accepts responsibility for their own decisions, choices and actions in our earthly sphere of existence.  While my Earth life experience has been very different from Ramtha's 35,000 years ago, I understand that every individual personality—on Earth or in the ascended realm—is a unique aspect of this Collective Consciousness and influences our shared quantum field.

Understanding the fallacy of assumed imperative in relation to corporate or patriotic obeisance requires one to make each decision with the realization that the more important relationship is the one with God, with Superconsciousness.

Articles of this blog report about many extensively documented cases of 'channeling' and 'paranormal' phenomena that have been overlooked or misunderstood by people.  The ascended masters and other channeling cases when considered altogether ultimately can be understood to provide evidence of the omnipresent 'universal Christ Spirit'/spiritual 'Oneness'/Superconsciousness.  Ramtha is quoted in The White Book:

"The greater the heaven you create here within your own kingdom of thought and emotion, the greater the heaven you will experience when you leave this plane or, if you choose, when you return here."

"This plane that you are upon is the first plane, the plane of three dimensional perception."

"Upon this plane, all levels of consciousness understanding exist, for this is the plane of what is termed expressive God or the plane of demonstration.  It is the plane where you can demonstrate and witness consciousness in the material form in order to expand your emotional understanding.  And I wish you to know that this place of yours called Earth is only one of innumerable places where an entity can experience and express through an embodiment upon the plane of demonstration."

Also in The White Book, Ramtha answered a student's request to "tell us something about what you do when you're not squeezed into this plane."

"I am doing the same thing that you are doing: expressing.  The only difference is yours is a limitation of expression and mine is not.  I have a reach that goes into forever, for I never contemplate the ending of myself, for there is no such thing.  And I indeed go with the wind, for that was my ultimate desire."

". . . and I am being happy with what I am.  And when I am not the identity you see of me here, I am that which is: the platform from which all things come forth, for the seventh level is the totality of thought, which is the great Void that holds your planets in orbit, your cells together, and encompasses all things to the perimeters of forever.  And when you are a seventh-level entity, there is no such thing as levels.  There only is.  In that, you become all feeling of all things, of all knowingness, of all thought."

Listening to Rob Simone's 2014 interview with Ramtha, I was reminded how consistent the personality of Ramtha has been in the various recordings.  The use of a random word generator computer program during the interview was an unusual aspect of the interview.  Ramtha at one point commented: "There are voices that need to be heard."

During the lecture published in Ramtha Intensive: Soulmates (1987), Ramtha said during the first morning session of his six-part presentation: "The knowledge that I will teach you these days and the runners that will come will give you the understanding of why I answer this way."

How Ramtha has often articulated 'God' places an emphasis on us — that God is manifesting through each of us; however, the very nature of Ramtha's manifestation leads us to reflect further about God.  An aspect of God being a Consciousness greater than the expression of the totality of individual units or personalities is understood through the selectivity involved with, when and where manifests an individual personality — this encompasses each occasion of so-called 'channeling' among other aspects of 'paranormal phenomena.'

Concerning the many parallels noticeable between the Edgar Cayce channeled reading transcripts and Ramtha's discourses, it is easy to conclude that Ramtha's information about Atlantis and Lemuria/Mu correlates with statements in the Cayce readings about the 'Hall of Records.'   Channeled reading 5750-1 of November 12, 1933 presented a response to question 23 "in which pyramid or temple are the records mentioned in the readings given through this channel on Atlantis, in April, 1932?"

(A) As given, that temple was destroyed at the time there was the last destruction in Atlantis.

Yet, as time draws nigh when changes are to come about, there may be the opening of those three places where the records are one, to those that are the initiates in the knowledge of the One God:

The temple by Iltar will then rise again.  Also there will be the opening of the temple or hall of records in Egypt, and those records that were put into the heart of the Atlantean land may also be found there - that have been kept, for those that are of that group.

The RECORDS are ONE.

Something that startled me upon listening to Ramtha during his recent interview is that he can be heard drinking wine and smoking tobacco at intervals.  This is especially curious because some of his commentary was intended to help people overcome addictions so he apparently wasn't being a very good role model.  Personally, I'm sexually celibate and don't drink alcoholic beverages or coffee, nor smoke and am a vegan.  An Internet search that I conducted to explore this curious aspect of the case provided me with the information that Ramtha has "a new favorite wine" that he says is "the best wine ever."  The wine is called 'Rarus.'

The articles at this blog are intended to help readers find beneficial nonfiction sources of information relating to metaphysical and spiritual subjects.  While fictional works are not suitable to provide an introduction to these subjects, it is interesting to note that occasionally Hollywood movies have offered some semblance of ascended masters — perhaps most obviously with the ascended Jedi in the original "Star Wars" trilogy.  While I stopped allocating time to entertainment nearly 20 years ago, I noticed an article concerning the movie "Avatar" (2009) in the January 2010 Ramtha's School of Enlightenment Newsletter with the comment "There is so much in the recent movie AVATAR that Ramtha has been teaching about for so long . . ."  While everyone's creativity is subconsciously connected to the Source of all knowledge, Ramtha has had much to say to prepare people for truth's awakening through expanding their spiritual consciousness.
