Hello, dear readers!I'd like to tell you about the online Masquerade event that I will be participating in. It is being hosted over at AmandaBeth Online. I recently discovered this sweet fashion blog (a discovery I should have made long ago, since many of my online friends follow it!).

Every now and then, AmandaBeth hosts an event, and this time it is a Masquerade! The details are HERE.

I almost laughed when I saw the post, because I just had a Sweet 16/Moving Away party with my friends, and guess what it was? A Masquerade! Not much of a Masquerade Ball, though. We dressed up, wore masks and costumes, and hung out around the half-packed house. Well, we did choreograph a crazy dance to Masquerade from Phantom of the Opera (we greeted the latecomers with the dance!) and we walked/danced around the neighborhood in full costume...

Anyways, I had made two posts about crafty things from the party, which I scheduled to publish in a few weeks. However, I am going to publish them early and make them far more in depth for this event!

The event does not start until August 31st; however, I am going to put my "entries" up on this blog today, because I won't be online the 31st.




(I also plan on making a post on how-to-make-masks and another craftsy thing I did for the party).

Earring Display Rack

I needed somewhere to keep my earrings from getting all tangled up, so I made this earring rack!

All it is is a piece of cross stitch fabric, a cross stitch/embrodiery frame, and a piece of ribbon. If you or a family member cross stitches, you will have these supplies on hand. My aunt sent me her old cross-stitch supplies, but I don't like cross-stitching, so those supplies will make some nice little racks.

To make it, simply put the fabric in the frame, trim off the edges, and tie a ribbon around it. Voila, nice and organized earrings.

Origami Box

One of my favorite origami designs, this time made from rice paper. A friend taught me how to fold this box back in third grade (in fact, she was the one who taught me what origami was! All I had made before was cootie-catchers). She was from Korea but living with her aunt and uncle for one year at the university here in town... she was in my class... I miss her.

Anyway, a question for my readers: I've done quite a bit of origami. I can make video tutorials (since picture tutorials are readily available online and in art books). Would you like that?

Fiction Teardrop

A (slight) variation on my Star Wars pendant. It is a Byzantine chainmaille weave.

It reminded me of something from a sci-fi or fantasy film. Hence the name!

Random LIttle Things

This post is for some random little things that didn't quite deserve their own post but that I took pictures of, just 'cause.

A funny little chainmaille mobius.

Rings! Glorious rings! (Shooot, that Oliver Twist song is now stuck in my head...)

Funny earcuffs that may or may not work... That is, they fit me but I'm not sure if they will actually stay on. I must mess with this design some alot.

TREBLE CLEFS! Just like the Music Notes Set I made earlier. These are fun to make but they would be even more fun with a Wig-Jig.... :P :) (The Wig-Jig is a wire jewelry making thing, basically a board with lots of moveable pegs to wrap wire on.)

Hearts. Maybe to go on earrings. Who knows?

Another Evenstar!

Look at the pretty blue "gilded" bead on the bottom! That bead was my latest find, and it just needed to be made into something. I'd given all but a worn-out Evenstar pendant to friends, so I went ahead and made a new one for myself. (The top bead got turned around backwards... I didn't realize it until I had the wire pulled tight.)

Key Earrings

I love secrets. I love cubbies, I love passageways, treasure boxes, magnifying glasses, and dusty attics.

And I love keys.

So I thought I'd put some sweet key charms from Walmart on earrings.

As it turns out, the earrings were very long, and I would never wear them. So I took them apart, but not before snagging a picture:
